GERIN Joint Achievement Ceremony

GERIN Joint Achievement Ceremony

Over the past 15 months, KIAT has supported the Directorate General of Infrastructure Financing (DGIF) at the Ministry of Public Works to increase its focus on infrastructure decarbonisation through the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reduction in Infrastructure (GERIN) activity.

According to Indonesia’s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), GHG emissions from manufacturing and construction sectors reached 131.05 million tons of CO₂ in 2022. By developing a set of tools for estimating GHG emissions on infrastructure projects, KIAT has helped identify opportunities for Indonesia to transition to low-GHG emission infrastructure development.

On 29 July 2025, DGIF and KIAT jointly hosted a ceremony in Jakarta to showcase achievements, share lessons learned, recognise stakeholder contributions and discuss next steps in decarbonising Indonesia’s infrastructure sector.

Present at the event to deliver remarks were Simon Anderson, the acting Minister Counsellor for Economic, Investment and Infrastructure at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, and Agus Sulaeman, Director of System Development and Financing Strategy at DGIF. As part of the event, James Logie, the Director of Strategy, Planning & Innovation at Infrastructure NSW, shared Australia’s approach to infrastructure decarbonisation.
