KIAT Supports Indonesia’s Road Sector Strategic Plan 2025–2029

Natalie Mendelsohn from the Australian Embassy, together with the Directorate General of Highways (DGH), attended the handover of technical support for DGH’s Strategic Plan.

KIAT supported the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) in developing their 2025–2029 Strategic Plan (Renstra) to strengthen Indonesia’s road network and institutions. The plan aligns with national priorities by promoting safer and more climate-resilient roads, improved governance at the subnational level and more efficient logistics.

On 30 July 2025, a handover ceremony in Jakarta commemorated the official transfer of KIAT’s technical support to DGH. Presented by Australian Embassy Counsellor for Infrastructure, Climate and Green Growth Natalie Mendelsohn to Director General Roy Rizali Anwar, the report introduced a framework for performance-based and results-oriented planning with targets, diversified funding sources, and institutional reforms.

The event featured a presentation of the draft Renstra followed by stakeholder discussions on how to ensure its effective implementation. More than 60 participants attended in person, and over 100 joined online, including representatives from Bappenas, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Australian Embassy.

Through this partnership, Australia and Indonesia are working together to build a well-connected and inclusive national road system that benefits communities across the archipelago.
